This week I came across a beautiful vintage children's book called A Day in Fairy Land, with delicate illustrations by Ana Mae Seagren and a story by Sigrid Rahmas. The moment I opened it, I knew I'd stumbled across something special.
The illustrations have that timeless charm that vintage books capture so well. Soft watercolour washes, gentle line work and whimsical little fairies dancing through nature create a magical world that feels both nostalgic and enchanting. Every page feels like discovering a forgotten piece of fairy folklore.
As someone who loves creating artwork inspired by fantasy books, cottagecore and cosy magical worlds, finding books like this always gets my imagination racing.

Bringing Vintage Magic to Modern Fantasy
One of my favourite things about creating artwork is taking inspiration from vintage illustration styles and giving them a fresh, modern twist for today's fantasy readers.
There's something wonderfully comforting about old fairy tale artwork. It reminds us of childhood storybooks, rainy afternoons spent reading, and believing there really might be tiny magical creatures living at the bottom of the garden.
Those are exactly the feelings I love trying to capture in my own artwork.
