October’s Mail Clubs Have Arrived! 🌙🍄
Night Court Bats, Enchanted Forests & a Little Autumn Magic
October might just be one of my favourite months for creating the Mail Clubs. The darker evenings, changing colours and slightly magical feeling in the air make it the perfect excuse to embrace all things fantasy, woodland and a little bit gothic.
This month the two clubs have gone in very different directions: the Book Mail Club has entered the Night Court, while the Art Mail Club has wandered deep into an autumn forest filled with mushrooms, moss and tiny snails.
🌙 October Book Mail Club – Night Court & Bats
For October's Book Mail Club I wanted something dark, celestial and very bookish, with plenty of Night Court vibes.
The collection is filled with bats, moons, stars, gothic details and vintage-style fantasy artwork, with a black, parchment and gold-inspired colour palette that feels perfect for October.
There are lots of little pieces tucked inside this month's envelope, including artwork and paper goodies to decorate your bookshelf, journal or reading space. I've also included a bat bookmark design to colour yourself, along with some beautiful vintage silhouette-style pieces and, of course, plenty of bats!
It has a slightly mysterious, old-book feeling to it — like something you might discover tucked away inside the library of a magical court.
If you love romantasy, celestial artwork, gothic bookshelves and fantasy worlds, I think you're going to love this one.
🍄 October Art Mail Club – Forest Mushrooms
The inspiration for October's Art Mail Club came from something much closer to home.
After a walk around Nicky Nook in Scorton, I came home with lots of photographs of the amazing mushrooms and toadstools I'd spotted along the way. They immediately made me want to create an entire autumn collection around them.
So this month's Art Mail Club became a celebration of the little things you might find on an autumn woodland walk: mushrooms, snails, moss, earthy colours and forest textures.
The main artwork features a wonderfully chunky snail perched on top of a red-and-white toadstool, surrounded by delicate woodland details. I've paired it with photographs, illustrations, creative activities and little tactile extras including ribbon, fabric and moss to make opening the envelope feel almost like unpacking a tiny piece of the forest.
The colours are warm and muted — mushroom reds, mossy greens, creams, browns and soft autumn pinks — and there's even a little colour-your-own snail activity inspired by the month's artwork.
Two Very Different Sides of October
That's one of the things I love most about running the two clubs.
The Book Mail Club lets me disappear into fantasy worlds filled with moonlight, magic and gothic romance, while the Art Mail Club encourages me to look at the real world around me and turn the things I find into new artwork.
So this October you can choose between...
🌙 Night Court magic, celestial bats and gothic fantasy
or
🍄 Woodland mushrooms, snails and cosy autumn nature
...or, of course, have both!
Each envelope is designed, illustrated and put together by me, and I love making every month's collection feel like a little parcel of inspiration arriving through your letterbox.
October's Mail Clubs are available now at Painted Chapter / Wildlife in Ink.
